Kelly Rowan nasce ad Ottawa nel 1967, per poi trasferirsi a Toronto. Ottiene la sua prima opportunità come attrice nella televisione canadese quando aveva 19 anni. Ai primi tempi Kelly studia in una scuola di recitazione, ma per guadagnare un pò di soldi diventa anche modella a New York (1987). Nel 1990 si sposta a Los Angeles, la capitale del cinema e dopo diversi ruoli nei telefilm ottiene il primo vero ruolo di attrice, nel film “Hook”(1991) di Steven Spielberg; nel ruolo della madre di Peter Pan.

Curiosità:
- Le piace allenarsi con il punching-ball per alleviare lo stress.
- Si è diplomata alla Northern Secondary, University of Western Ontario.
- Ha frequentato la British American Drama Academy and Neighbourhood Playhouse.
